Our Note Card Campaign Father Brendan Doyle, Pastor of Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Kennesaw, has begun a program of letter-writing to our seminarians which has been very successful. Picture cards have been created of each seminarian and on each of these cards is a note from that seminarian telling parishioners in Atlanta how much their prayers help them in their journey towards the priesthood. ( Click here for a copy of the cards which have been produced here in poster form.) Each picture card is placed inside a separate envelope along with a blank note card and a stamped envelope addressed to the seminarian in the picture. Parishioners are given one envelope (or are asked to allow the Holy Spirit to choose for them) and are then asked to not only pray for the seminarian indicated inside but to use the enclosed note card and envelope to send a note telling their chosen seminarian that they are praying for him. Many of our seminarians have received these hand-written notes and are very grateful for the prayers. The children of Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic School each received one of the cards and are in the process of writing to their seminarians now. This is a practice which can be adopted in many parishes. Think how many prayers and notes of thanks can be engendered if other parishes followed suit! This poster board may be reproduced by any parish wishing to display it. It's a wonderful way of introducing the seminarians to the parishioners of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. This poster is being displayed in many of our Atlanta churches. For information on how your church can obtain one, please click here. |
